~ Whitnei Charlene Dubois ~

Whitnei Dubois

26 year old Whitnei Dubois had not been seen by family for a couple of days prior to May 12, 2007 but they did not report her missing. Tragically, Whitnei’s 5 year-old daughter would never have the opportunity to give her mom the Mother’s Day card she had made for her. Her mother would become the apparent 4th victim in a string of mysterious female deaths in Jeff Davis Parish Louisiana.

Whitnei was last seen, in the middle of the night, at Frankie Richard’s house on McKinley Street in Jennings. It was claimed that she was only there briefly and left the residence on foot. Shortly before going to Richard’s house, Whitnei had spent about an hour at her grandmother’s house on Gallup Street which is one street over from McKinley.

On Saturday morning, May 12th, around 7:30 am, a couple discovered a nude female body lying in the roadway near the intersection of Bobby Road & Earl Duhon Road. It is a rural area about three miles southeast of Jennings, LA between LA 102 and US 90. Although not a heavily traveled area, it is used daily by farmers and residents.

At the time, the Sheriff’s office had no missing persons reports filed with their office. Dubois was identified through fingerprint records on file from prior drug and forgery charges. The cause of her death has not been publicly released. There were no visible signs on the body indicating manner of death. Toxicology reports indicated high levels of alcohol and drugs in her body.

Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff Ricky Edwards believed Whitnei may have been dead for several days before her body was placed where it was found and that she did not die at that location. He also publicly stated that her death might be connected to the three deaths prior to hers and that he had a “serial dumper” on his hands although he had no evidence that it was the same person. Her body was not as decomposed as the first three giving authorities hope that valuable evidence could be collected.

Two items of interest, the first 3 victims were found in canals…..Whitnei would be the first, of subsequent victims, to be found on a roadway or land. Secondly, Teresa Gary, mother of 7th victim Brittney Gary, has said in an interview that her daughter knew Whitnei. It is not clear if Whitnei knew and/or associated with any of the other victims but has been alluded to in published reports.

Heartbreakingly, Whitnei’s sister, Brittany Jones, was left a year later wondering what happened to her sister. She was quoted as saying, “All we know is that she was found naked on a dirt road, decomposed.”

It is known that Whitnei had a daughter who was five years old at the time of her mother’s death. It is believed that the daughter is in the care of one of her grandmothers as well as extended family. That is not confirmed but taken from this rather interesting post on one of the crime forums.

The first victim (Loretta) has a beautiful son his godmother helps the grandmother with him alot and it’s a good thing because 2 of her grandchildren lost their mother to this I do know she has help with them because one of the children (whitnei’s daughter) has extended family to help out a lot. (sp?)

I am trying to get further verification on the above post because it seems the poster is stating that the son of victim #1 and the daughter of victim #4 have the same grandmother. If that is true, it is a major link between two of the victims.
